Supplies and Hobbled Bears

She was salvaging
For anything, edible or non-edible
Something to fill the time
The mental space

She noticed the bear after removing her head
From a pristine trashcan
It nodded, acknowledging a similar being
That was about to get devoured
Rising up on its legs, it waved with a paw

She waved back for some reason
The bear returned to all fours
Looking as if it were about to charge
It was staring at the ground, spooked
Its left leg was shaking

She knew what she was going to do next
Take the apple
And run
Then climb a tree
Watch as the sky melted
Since the world was destroyed every night
When the sun fell
